Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, also known as Dawa Yangzum, is a Nepali-born mountain climber and the first woman to become an international mountain guide from Nepal.

Yala Peak was Dawa Yangzum’s first professional summit in 2009, when she began her mountain climbing career. Up to this point, she has summited thirteen out of fourteen 8,000-meter peaks. After her 2012 ascent of Mount Everest, she became one of the most famous Nepalese mountain climbers of all time.

She became eligible to become an international mountain guide in 2017 after receiving certification from the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association. She became one of the rare Nepali mountaineers to be paid as an athlete by a main western firm when she inked a professional deal with a US outdoor recreation equipment company in March 2019.

On May 29, 2019, Dawa Yangzum became the first Nepali woman to reach the peak of Makalu, the fifth highest peak in the country, adding to her several ascents of Everest. Along with two other women from Nepal, she reached the peak of K2 on July 26, 2014. Akita Pasang Lhamu and Maya Sherpa were two of the other notable members. In the autumn of 2021, she was also the first woman to reach the real top of Manaslu.
